Gavin Brown – originally from New Zealand can look back on several years of international marketing experience in the sailing and sports fashion industry.

During a career with a leading New Zealand sportswear brand, Gavin was involved with many of the marketing milestones in the recent history of America’s Cup. These include the red sock campaign for Team New Zealand in 2000.  In 2001 he moved to Hamburg to manage Line 7 products and America’s Cup properties in Europe.  In 2004 he was appointed Head of Licensing for ACM the organising body of the 32nd America’s Cup in 2007.

Gavin’s knowledge from the worlds of sailing and branding has equipped him for readying and now building the Carbon Challenge brand.

“I’m pleased that my score is helped a lot by not using a car.  I really think they are over-rated for inner-city people, especially in Europe.  It’s interesting what an impact flights have on our score.  I’m certainly going to look harder at video conferencing to substitute short flights. New Zealanders don’t need central heating, we wear longer shorts in winter…”
