Dr. Olivier Lefebvre

Olivier Lefebvre was born and raised in Belgium.

Prior to becoming a member of the Management Committee of NYSE Euronext Inc in 2007, Olivier Lefebvre built over 20 years of experience in key positions in the European private and public worlds.

Beginning his career at Generale Bank (now Fortis Bank), he was appointed as Chief of Cabinet for Belgium’s Minister of Finance in 1993. From 1996 – 2000 he achieved major successes with both the Brussels Stock Exchange and Brussels Exchanges, serving as their CEO.

Olivier Lefebvre lives in Belgium and is married with two children. Being personally engaged in several climate change related projects and businesses, he joined the Carbon Challenge team with the objective of inspiring global business leaders to take action in the Race Against Global Warming.

In his responsibility as Supervisory Board Chairman he is aiming to develop Carbon Challenge into a powerful, transparent and accountable showcase for carbon-reduced business success.

“Last year I started to drastically reduce my footprint: already on the "done" list: new car (cut from 280 to 146g/km), cut fuel for housing by 40% (solar and other equipment), switched to a green electricity supplier. On the "to do" list: more energy saving equipment, 30% less air travel, continuing to improve food habits. And I offset the balance."
