Today the Carbon Challenge team has been able to breathe out.  After more than 18 months of strategic planning, secret-
ly working and networking,  we can launch carbonchallenge.net.

Finally we can talk about our ideas openly with the corporate world and really begin the Race Against Global Warming.

Welcome!  Now the busy phase truly begins…

As of today there are too many things going on in the Carbon Challenge world to mention here….well, that’s not true, that’s the purpose of the site: to bring you up to speed with all of the things going on….for instance:

…finalizing our V70 boat and crew planning for the Volvo Ocean Race; signing up partners for the Race Against Global Warming; putting the finishing touches on our hospitality packages (have you tasted the local squid in Alicante?), processing concepts for the Cool World and Boathouse, scheduling first management sessions in our Academy,….
the list goes on…

We hope you enjoy catching up with what we have been preparing and look forward to your feedback.

We like this quote…actually it’s the mission statement of our supporters at the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, and it’s well worth keeping in a prominent place as we all try to dodge the news, rhetoric and  confusion flying around the climate change issue:

“Our mission is to provide business leadership as a catalyst for change toward sustainable development, and to support the business license to operate, innovate and grow in a world increasingly shaped by sustainable development issues.”

We like to add on behalf of Carbon Challenge: “While carbon reduction is just one part of sustainability, it is our focus”.

It’s the idea of saving the planet through growth and progress, rather than in spite of growth and progress that resonates with us. It’s an idea that seems to be getting lost in the media crossfire these days, but one which we are sure will become a dominant theme of the Race Against Global Warming.

We couldn’t agree more and we relish the prospect of playing our part in this vision.
