Academy

The Carbon Challenge Academy is the knowledge centre of Carbon Challenge and the place where we transfer the benefits of our experiences and those we have collected from the world of carbon emissions reduction to our business clients and visitors. 

Hosted in our academy facilities in Alicante and Valencia and starting in October in the zero net energy Boathouse in 10 port cities of the Volvo Ocean Race route, our Academy offers a range of fixed content and tailored courses provided by in-house educators and expert guest presenters.  Academy courses range from one hour to three days and arranged in thematic levels to meet the needs of business leaders, senior managers and general employees respectively.

All our courses provide content to inspire and empower businesses and institutions to tackle the global warming issue and seize the opportunity to improve their operations through “cool thinking”. 

Longer courses include active sailing experiences and team building exercises that complement our in-house lessons.

From autumn 2009, Carbon Challenge Academy will offer a Master’s programme for Carbon Management in addition to its curriculum of management training modules.  By this time, Carbon Challenge will have established the permanent location of the Boathouse and Academy.

Our qualified instructors are supported by the local know-how of experts from PricewaterhouseCoopers’ global sustainability practice and the tutors of participating CEMS business schools and universities.

At Carbon Challenge, our ideas for carbon-neutral operation are in action 24/7.  Like any business, Carbon Challenge has to maintain high level of performance in a highly competitive arena.  But we have set ourselves the target of winning while producing carbon emissions far below the standard for our industry.  It’s an exercise that creates costs but also reveals many opportunities for added value and economic benefit.

Please note that due to the short stopover time in each port city of the Volvo Ocean Race there is very limited availability for each of the courses offered. We recommend to pre-register as soon as you are sure about your preferred academy module.

Academy packages can be combined with Hospitality packages for clients looking to combine business training with the atmosphere that only Volvo Ocean Race sailing can provide.
